Just one week after Samsung rolled out its Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo Samsung Experience 9.0 beta program in the US, UK, and South Korea, the tech giant released this past weekend the second beta.

SamMobile reports that the second Samsung Experience 9.0 Beta release, which is based on Google's Android 8.0 "Oreo" mobile operating system powered by the Linux kernel, is now rolling out to Galaxy S8 and S8+ users in the US, UK, and South Korea tagged as version number G950FXXU1ZQK4.

The update appears to include Google's October Android security patch, along with stability improvements for the DeX mode, which lets users transform their Galaxy S8 devices into full-fledged Linux PCs. The update also improves the stability of the Launcher, as well as new clock styles for the Lock screen and Always On Display.

Furthermore, the update makes it possible to adjust the transparency of notifications in an attempt to achieve the look you want for your Galaxy S8 or S8+ device, and it makes the Smart View a bit smarter than before by allowing the smartphone's screen to go dark when mirroring between the device and a TV.

CPU and RAM performance improvements, Bluetooth fixes

In addition to the new features mentioned above, the second Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo beta firmware fixes multiple issues reported by users since the first beta, thus improving the performance of CPU and RAM, Bluetooth, battery life when after Wi-Fi calls, lock screen, Samsung keyboard, Messages app, and Bixby intelligent assistant.

Under the hood, the Android Oreo-based Samsung Experience 9.0 beta 2 release is powered by the long-term supported Linux 4.4.13 kernel, which was compiled and optimized by Samsung on November 8, 2017. If you're using the first Samsung Experience 9.0 beta on your Galaxy S8 or S8+ device, please update now to beta 2.
