14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung launched pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ on March 30 in the US and the two flagship smartphones will launch on April 21. Some customers who pre-ordered the device took to Reddit to reveal that they received a free speaker dock.
Apparently, Samsung has offered a free speaker dock to customers who pre-ordered the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in the US from the company’s official website. All four major carriers in the US are accepting Galaxy S8 pre-orders, but only those who pre-ordered from Samsung’s website received the free gift.
The speaker dock seems to have a USB Type-C port for docking the smartphone, but it doesn’t have buttons to adjust volume or control music playback. The accessory takes the sound from a Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphone and directs it through the cone, while also charging the smartphone at the same time.
Customers also received a free Gear VR headset
Those who pre-ordered the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ from a US carrier or retailer will also receive a freebie, a Gear VR headset. Retailers and carriers also offered discounts on AKG earphones and 256GB microSD cards to increase the storage capacity on the new smartphone. While the Galaxy S8 launches on April 21, T-Mobile already informed its customers that they could receive their pre-orders a few days early, on April 19.
Samsung didn’t actually reveal the number of pre-orders recorded in the US, but stated that it intends to sell 1 million Galaxy S8 units in Korea before the smartphone officially launches next week. The company already recorded 728,000 pre-orders and is well on its way to reaching the 1 million mark.
Although Samsung didn’t reveal figures for the US, it did say that pre-orders are higher than those of its predecessor, the Galaxy S7. The 6GB of RAM Galaxy S8+ could help Samsung improve its market share in China, considering that the initial stock of 150,000 units is already sold out.
