But only if the smartphones are still under warranty

The Galaxy S7 edge is a solid device, which is why Samsung wanted to push the smartphone to a larger audience by allowing those who purchased the Galaxy Note 7 to switch to this particular smartphone.

Unfortunately, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is not without faults. We reported a few days ago about a major issue with the phone's display, as many owners had reported a vertical pink line was showing on their Galaxy S7 edge units.

Although we initially reported that Samsung did not admit this was a widespread problem, it appears that they knew about the issue, but did not want to make any waves. Let's not forget, there are lots of customers who are affected by this pink line issue after all.

Well, it appears that Samsung Benelux has finally dropped the ball and made a statement on the matter. The company was contacted recently by Dutch blog Tweakers, so here is what Samsung's officials had to say.

Purple stripe occurs especially in devices that have a broken display by a fall. However, it is also common in devices without broken display.” So, while the issue should mostly manifest on devices that have been dropped, Samsung admitted that it could also appear on Galaxy S7 edge units without a broken display.

According to Samsung, the main cause of the vertical pink line appearance is the latent damage to the internal circuits that control the direction of the screen.

That often happens after a crash. This is damage that can eventually lead to an increased risk of visible defects such as dead pixels or lines. If the device had not fallen, had the problem not occurred,” claims Samsung in the statement.

Samsung has also confirmed that it will repair the screen under warranty, but only if there are no visible damages to the display. In case the customer's phone is damaged, he or she will have to pay the repair cost.

Furthermore, Samsung recommends Galaxy S7 edge owners to use a case with their phones, so that the device would be less vulnerable to a hard fall.
