Samsung has announced that it made some significant changes to its mobile payment system, Samsung Pay. The South Korean company stated that Samsung Pay is adding three more countries, Malaysia, Russia and Thailand to its portfolio.

In total, Samsung Pay will be working in 10 countries by the end of the year. Aside from announcing that the service is expanding, Samsung Electronics also stated that a global partnership with Mastercard would provide an even more simplified online payment and express checkout service for users.

Early next year, Samsung Pay users will be able to access Mastercard’s digital payment service, Masterpass, in order to conduct online payments faster. It seems that merchants in up to 33 countries currently accept Masterpass for online payments, which means that Samsung Pay can be used for even more transactions.

“By partnering with Masterpass in the U.S. and rolling out online payments globally, we will simplify the online transaction experience by eliminating the need for customers to fill out tedious online checkout forms, remember long passwords or fumble for their wallets,” said Thomas Ko, VP and Global GM, Samsung Pay, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung introduced new facilities for Samsung Pay users in the US

When Samsung introduced online payments in South Korea last year, the service managed to account for 25% of processed transactions, which means that there’s a demand in the market for making online experiences faster.

Express checkout is available in Samsung Pay, which means that consumers no longer need to fill in online forms and will use information saved on their account instead. In addition, purchases can be made from any device and all transactions are secured using a fingerprint scanner, built into many Samsung phones.

Samsung Pay in the United States will support new features like in-app payments and new nearby discounts and savings.

Starting next month, consumers from the US will be able to locate discounts and coupons at nearby stores and restaurants using the Samsung Pay app. In the US, Samsung Pay supports over 500 banks and credit unions, accounting for over 85% of the country’s debit card and credit card market.
