14 DAY TRIAL // A few days ago, Indian retailer Flipkart teased the Samsung Galaxy On8 on its website and the smartphone was said to be made available on October 2, when a big promotional event would start. However, it seems that Samsung has decided to announce the Galaxy On8 in India today.
The smartphone was listed on Flipkart and carries a $239 price tag. The listing reveals that the device will be made available for purchase soon. What sets this smartphone apart from others in the Galaxy On series is the fact that it's the first to feature a Super AMOLED display. The device comes with a 5.5-inch display and Full HD resolution.
The Galaxy smartphone will have an all metal body and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The mid-ranger is equipped with a 1.6 Exynos 7280 octa-core processor and has 3GB of RAM. It also features 16GB of internal storage and the option to expand to 128GB using a microSD card.
Rear camera capacity reaches 13MP with autofocus options, as well as single-LED flash, HDR and 1080p video recording. It also has a 5MP camera in the front with LED flash for snapping pictures and conducting video calls.
Galaxy On8 comes with a 3,300mAh battery
The smartphone has dual-SIM card support, just like many Samsung phones launched in India lately. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and the smartphone comes with a microUSB 2.0 port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Battery capacity on the Galaxy On8 reaches 3,300mAh, which should be enough to keep the smartphone's lights on for a reasonable amount of time.
Galaxy On8 will be made available in three color variants, black, gold, and white. Fans can purchase the device starting the first week of October and chances are it won't be made available in other countries. The Galaxy On8 is in fact a rebranded Galaxy J7 (2016), considering that many specs on the two phones are similar.
