Samsung has just unveiled its latest smartwatch, the Gear S3, and it markets the device with the tagline “Timeless outside. Revolutionary inside,” which seems quite accurate at the first glance.

Samsung has announced its last major product of the year, the Gear S3, in Berlin today, a smartwatch that comes with advanced features. Still, the company doesn't seem to have brought much innovation in the latest model, but it instead focused on the features that worked on the Gear S2.

Specifically, the Gear S3 has measurements similar to the Gear S2, and it thus comes with a 46mm casing and a 1.3-inch display as opposed to 44mm and 1.2 inches on the Gear S2. The screen sticks to the 360 x 360 pixel resolution and comes with the option to keep the smartwatch on at all times, while displaying the screen's full range of color.

The smartwatch comes in two design options: Frontier, which is built for users who are more active, and the Classic model, which keeps an elegant feel to the smartwatch. Gear S3 Classic comes with a stainless steel design and has a polished silver look while the Frontier sports a matte finish black. The Frontier also comes with military grade protection and shock resistance. The display is also protected with Gorilla Glass SR+.

The Gear S3 Frontier measures 46 x 49 x 12.9mm and weighs 62 grams while the Gear S3 Classic measures 46 x 49 x 12.9mm but weighs less at 57 grams.

The smartphones boast rotating bezels that allow users to answer calls more easily, they run Tizen and there are currently 10,000 apps available for the Gear S3. The handset runs a dual-core 1.0GHz Exynos 7270 and comes with 4GB of internal memory and 768MB of RAM.

Samsung Gear S3 comes with IP68 certification

As expected, the Gear S3 has various sensors, including accelerometer, gyrometer, barometer, and heart rate monitor. The smartwatch comes with wireless charging, and the battery is expected to last for three to four days, which is quite impressive.

The Gear S3 comes with NFC and MFT, which allows users to make payments at credit card terminals. Waterproof protection is provided together with the Gear S3, since the smartwatch comes with IP68 certification. However, the smartwatch isn't recommended for swimming and diving.

It comes with the same level of security that Knox provides and even has multiple connectivity options like WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth. Gear S3 also comes with standalone LTE connection, built-in speaker, and a microphone.

Straps are industry standard 22mm, which means that they can be replaced with other models from the market.
