14 DAY TRIAL // Recent talk about Samsung intending to launch a new fitness band has been confirmed, after the company accidentally leaked images of the new fitness band with Bluetooth earbuds on its official S Health website. The images have been up for more than a day now, which means that the company intends to launch the device soon enough.
A month ago, leaked images of two upcoming Samsung products surfaced online, showcasing the sequel to the Gear Fit and a pair of IconX cordless earbuds. No information on specs was released, it seems that Samsung is keeping configuration details a secret and takes the opportunity to attract customers with a sleek design.
The design of the Samsung Gear Fit 2 will be slightly more curved and ergonomic, compared to the first edition. It is rumored that the Gear Fit 2 will come with 4GB of incorporated storage for music and media files.
There’s no detailed information on the earbuds, but they’re believed to come with dust and water resistance features. Images show earbuds blue and it’s highly likely that Samsung will be launching other color variants as well. The changeable wristband for Gear Fit 2 is also expected to come in multiple color options.
First Gear Fit, a success at the time of its launch
Samsung hit a homerun with the Gear Fit, as it sold a quarter million units just 10 days after it was released on April 11, 2014. Gear Fit was integrated rather in the fitness band market, than that of smartwatches since it came with a lower configuration compared to Gear 2 or Neo.
Gear Fit had a curved 1.84″ Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 432 x 128 pixels. It drew power from a 180 MHz ARM Cortex M4 CPU and had a battery of 210mAh.
It connects to Samsung phones via Bluetooth and it came with a heart rate scanner, step counter and media controller. The Korean company also launched the Gear S smartwatch with Swarovski crystals, incrusted in the wristband.
