After the Galaxy Note 7 disaster, Samsung is relying on the upcoming Galaxy S8 to regain some lost consumer trust and cover some financial losses generated by the discontinuation of its latest flagship. A new report reveals that the Galaxy S8 might include a Beast Mode.

Samsung has filed a trademark for the term “Beast Mode” in the EU, which could mean that the new feature might be incorporated in the Galaxy S8. Unfortunately, there aren’t any details regarding the new feature, but judging by its name, it could refer to a mode that speeds up the phone’s performance, including when playing games.

Recently, Samsung added Games and High-Performance modes in the Nougat beta for the Galaxy S7, which refer to improved phone performance in games or while working in multiple applications. The Beast Mode could provide additional performance boost.

Samsung Galaxy S8 might be announced in April next year

More information on the Beast mode may surface over the coming weeks, as we approach the official launch of the Galaxy S8. The latest rumors suggest that the smartphone might not make an appearance in February, as previously thought.

Instead, it could be unveiled during a special Samsung event, scheduled for April in New York City. This would make sense, since Samsung might want to take its time to test out the device and make sure that it's worthy of the flagship status for next year.

Rumors regarding the Galaxy S8 say that the phone could come with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset or an Exynos chip in certain markets. Both chipsets will be using the 10nm process which allows for a boost in performance, with relatively low power consumption. The phone might also have 8GB of RAM and come with a curved-edge screen and no physical home button. The fingerprint scanner might be located on the back of the device.
