14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung has introduced the new Galaxy Note 7 during the Unpacked 2016 event held in New York recently. But aside from the phone, the company has also launched a new cloud storage platform, offering 15GB of free space to Galaxy Note 7 users.
A while ago, rumors surfaced indicating that Samsung might launch a new cloud storage platform, called Samsung Cloud. The platform has been announced during the Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event held in New York.
The service doesn't seem to challenge other big names in the market, like Dropbox or Google Drive, as it's rather an extension of the Smart Switch feature. Still, Samsung Cloud is quite similar to Apple's iCloud, which signals the fact that the South Korean company doesn't want to lag behind the American giant in terms of services provided to its customers. The tool allows users to transfer their data to and from Samsung devices while Samsung Cloud offers support for just that and more.
Apps, settings, and files will be stored in Samsung Cloud
The new Samsung Cloud platform will help users by regularly backing up data stored on their device, including apps, settings, files, and even layouts. All data is stored in the cloud, which makes it easy to access and keeps it safe from phone loss or theft.
Galaxy Note 7 users will get 15GB of free storage in Samsung Cloud, but the company hasn't said if paid options will be available. It's highly likely that Samsung Cloud will open for all Samsung devices, especially those in the Galaxy series, and prices will be posted for certain levels of storage.
In addition, there is no information at this point to indicate whether Samsung will allow users to access Samsung Cloud and the 15GB of free storage for general usage, or if it will be limited to automatic backups from the Galaxy Note 7.
