14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung is definitely looking for a smooth Galaxy S8 launch, but in order to do that, the phone must come with some innovative stuff. Despite the fact that the phone's development has been delayed by approximately two weeks, Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy S8's launch wouldn't be postponed, so it should be unveiled in February at the Mobile World Congress 2017.
Although we're still quite a few months ahead of the phone's reveal, there are many rumors about the phone's specs running around.
Some of them have already been confirmed by Samsung, such as the addition of an AI digital assistant in the Galaxy S8, while others have remained inconclusive.
For example, previous rumors claimed the Samsung Galaxy S8 would boast an impressive 4K display, which would have been a bit of an overkill for the phone battery.
That's probably what Samsung's thinking as well since a new report now states that the Galaxy S8 will pack a 2K display.
Someone from China cites sources in the supply chain that confirm the Galaxy S8 will use the same 2K display that's been included in the Galaxy S7 as well.
Moreover, it looks like suppliers haven't received any orders for the Home key components that will allow Samsung to add a physical key in the Galaxy S8.
Basically, this means that Samsung has decided to drop the Home button key, so don't expect one to go with the upcoming Galaxy S8.
One other piece of information coming from sources inside the supply chain is the use of “new materials” for the Galaxy S8 manufacture.
Unfortunately, we don't know what these new materials the sources are talking about are, so we'll just have to wait for more information to emerge in the coming months.
