Samsung recently announced the results of the Galaxy Note 7 probe and presented in detail the battery issues that caused the flagship’s demise. Now, the company is ready to put the whole debacle behind and focus on the future, specifically the Galaxy Note 8.

Samsung’s mobile chief DJ Koh has recently stated that the company will indeed develop a successor to the Galaxy Note 7, according to a report by CNET. “I will bring back a better, safer and very innovative Note 8,” said DJ Koh.

The mobile chief was part of the team that came up with the idea for the original S Pen stylus, so it goes without saying that the Note series holds great importance for Samsung’s exec.

Galaxy Note 4 and Note 5 owners “want a Note”

The Galaxy Note 7 discontinuation did affect Samsung’s reputation as a smartphone maker and the image of the Note series. Still, many Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 5 owners are looking to upgrade and they might just hold out for the Galaxy Note 8. Tim Baxter, chief of Samsung’s US branch, has even said that Note 4 and Note 5 owners have “made it clear, they want a Note.”

Nonetheless, there is a rumor claiming that the Galaxy S8 might come with an S Pen stylus as an external accessory, but that remains to be seen.

Samsung could very well recover some Galaxy Note fans, especially since the company announced a series of mandatory tests that will be conducted throughout the manufacturing process of its upcoming phones. The tests would make sure that batteries inside new phones are perfectly safe even under heavy usage.

Samsung will be facing fierce competition this fall again, considering that Apple is preparing an innovative design for its upcoming iPhone 8, as well as some very powerful specs. Hopefully, Samsung will bring back some features from the late Galaxy Note 7, while also update and improve others, including the S Pen, if it really wants to appeal to consumers.
