Samsung will take the wraps off its next Galaxy S model on February 26, according to a new leak, while the first units will be shipped to customers on March 16.

Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks, posted the schedule on Twitter, saying it comes from a C-level executive at a major case-maker. According to this leak, the Galaxy S9 will see daylight on February 26, before going up on pre-order on March 1. Shipping will kick off on March 16.

Samsung itself has already confirmed the Galaxy S9 will be unveiled at MWC, and it’s believed the South Korean firm might try to steal the show by taking the wraps off its devices one day before its kickoff. This could mean that the unveiling could actually take place on Sunday on February 25, though this date could obviously depend on the time zone.

Samsung, however, typically introduces its flagship devices in separate events, and the company has a history of unveiling important models on the Sunday before major shows like MWC.

Samsung Galaxy S9 rumored specs

As far as the changes coming to the S9 are concerned, there are lots of rumors at this point, but the most reliable sources point to small design changes on the front, with slightly reduced bezels and the same 5.8- and 6.2-inch displays to be used.

The back of the phone will come with a new layout for the camera and the fingerprint sensor. The smaller model will feature just a single-lens camera, while the bigger S9+ will be equipped with a dual-camera unit in a vertical layout.

Power will come from a Snapdragon 845 chip in the US and Exynos processor in the EU coupled with 4GB and 6GB RAM, respectively. The fingerprint sensor will still be there, and so will be the headphone jack, as Samsung doesn’t yet want to go the Apple way and give up on the popular audio connector.

Full details, including pricing and availability, will be announced by Samsung itself in approximately one month and 10 days.
