14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung has recently confirmed that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ would be unveiled on February 25, and a new comprehensive leak provides us with an early glimpse into what to expect.
Basically, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ won’t bring too many changes in terms of design as compared to their predecessors, though with this new generation, the South Korean firm wants to better make a difference between the two.
This is a strategy that Apple has been using since the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were introduced, and Samsung is embracing the same idea, likely in an attempt to drive more buyers to its bigger models.
While when viewed from the front there won’t be much to see as compared to the existing models, the magic is happening on the back, where both devices will feature a more natural design approach with a vertical layout. This means the fingerprint sensor won’t be so hard to reach as it currently is on the Galaxy S8 lineup.
Stereo speakers, finally
Additionally, the Galaxy S9+ will come with a dual-camera system, while the smaller 5.8-inch brother will stick with a single-lens configuration.
VentureBeat says the two devices will be equipped with 12-megapixel cameras featuring variable aperture with mechanical adjustment between f/2.4 and f/1.5, with super slow-mo also offered. The dual-camera system on the bigger model will also integrate a second 12-megapixel lens, but this time with a fixed aperture. An 8-megapixel selfie camera will be used on the front.
As far as the CPU configuration goes, Samsung has opted for the typical Snapdragon choice in the US and China and Exynos in the rest of the world. The latest-generation chipsets are adopted, namely the Snapdragon 845 and Exynos 9810, with more differences taking place in the memory and storage departments.
The Galaxy S9 will feature 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, while the S9+ will boast 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.
Both models will feature stereo speakers, a first for Samsung’s flagships and certainly a welcome change that brings the Galaxy models closer to rival iPhone.
Sales will start on March 16, while pre-orders could kick off in early March. Full details will be announced by Samsung on February 25.
