Company says it is investigating the issue

Samsung Galaxy S9+ appears to be suffering from another bug, this time blocking missed call notifications. This means users can only find out missed calls by going to the call log manually, as no other information, such as missed call badges, is displayed on the screen.

While it’s not exactly known what’s triggering this behavior, it’s a little bit odd that the problem only happens on the bigger the Galaxy S9+ and not on the smaller S9.

A report from PiunikaWeb indicates the issue is more often spotted in Europe, and there are signs that the bug was introduced by the March 2018 security update.

While a pattern to reproduce the bug can’t be found just yet, one user says not all missed calls are affected, so the problem appears to be taking place at random times.

“I was not able to identify any clear pattern that leads to a bug but close to 50% of missed calls on my device do not result in a notification in the status bar and the on the always on display,” one Galaxy S9 owner was quoted as saying by the cited source.

Samsung already knows about the bug

Samsung is already aware of the problem, according to information posted by a moderator on the company’s forums, but no other specifics were provided as to when a fix could be shipped on how exactly users can try to avoid this behavior.

“I’ve escalated it to our software guys but any software log files you folks can send them will help them narrow down exactly what’s going on and fix it quicker,” the moderator explained.

Without a doubt, this is a software issue that can be patched easily by Samsung, but the company first needs to determine what’s causing it. If it was introduced by the March 2018 updates, the easy way to avoid it is to not install the new security patch (if you haven’t already).
