Both Snapdragon and Exynos versions said to be impacted

Samsung started shipping the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ to customers across the world earlier this month, but unfortunately for both buyers and the company itself, the experience in some cases is far from being flawless.

After it was reported that some units suffer from dead spots on the display, it now looks like calls are dropping on a number of models, regardless of version or carrier.

At first glance, both the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ are impacted, though there are many more reports on the latter. Snapdragon and Exynos versions are affected, but more people seem to be complaining that their calls are dropping on the international version of the phone.

In most of the cases, users explain that their calls are interrupted all of a sudden at random times, and after a few seconds of silence, either the call returns to normal or fails entirely.

Samsung exchanging faulty units

PiunikaWeb says that some Samsung customers brought in the devices for repairs, and the South Korean company exchanged them with new units not suffering from the call bug. At this point, however, it’s not known if Samsung is aware of the problem, though it seems it is given that faulty units are quickly replaced.

Also, it’s too early to tell whether it’s a widespread problem or not, but by the looks of things, the more customers get the Galaxy S9, the more reports point to call issues.

At first glance, this seems to be a software bug that Samsung could fix with a future update, and store staff decided to replace faulty units simply because this hotfix is not yet ready. Of course, this is just speculation on our side, and without an official statement it’s hard to tell what exactly is happening.

For the time being, your safest option is to get in touch with Samsung if your phone is suffering from similar problems as well.
