The latest in-depth analysis published by DisplayMate reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S9 simply has the best smartphone screen ever made, managing to beat the previous holder of this title, iPhone X.

In the company’s technical research, DisplayMate explains that the Samsung Galaxy S9 sets a new record for high absolute color accuracy, as it reaches a record value that makes it “visually indistinguishable from perfect.”

Furthermore, the screen is no less than 20 percent brighter than the one on the Galaxy S8, with a peak display brightness of 1130 nits. Additionally, it has the highest contrast ratio and the lowest screen reflectance at 4.4 percent. DisplayMate says the screen also offers the highest contrast rating and ambient light and the smallest brightness variation with viewing angle.

Beating the iPhone X

The Samsung Galaxy S9 receives the highest ever A+ grade offered by DisplayMate, and the organization says that this particular model is the most innovative and high-performance display ever tested.

“The Galaxy S9 delivers uniformly consistent all around Top Tier display performance and receives All Green (Very Good to Excellent) Ratings in All of the DisplayMate Lab Test and Measurement Categories – the first display we have ever tested to get All Green in All Categories. The level of display performance and excellence has been increasing each year, and the Galaxy S9 has raised the bar higher,” it says.

Even though the display of the Samsung Galaxy S9 appears to be similar to the one on its predecessor, the South Korean firm has clearly implemented a plethora of refinements, though by the looks of things, there’s still room for more improvements.

For example, while the display is brighter than the S8 screen, it’s still 70 nits dimmer than the one of the Galaxy Note 8.

Ironically, the iPhone X was the previous model holding the title of the phone with the best display in the world, but the screen was manufactured by none other than Samsung.
