Google announced ARCore SDK 1.2 at Google I/O 2018

Google has recently updated the list of supported devices for its ARCore augmented reality development platform with support for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones.

As spotted by 9to5google, the updated list shows that Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9+ smartphones are now officially supported by Google's ARCore, which means that developers can use them to create augmented reality (AR) experiences that are specifically tailored for these devices.

Supported Samsung Galaxy S9 models include SM-G960U, SM-G960U1, SM-G960W, SM-G960F, SM-G960N, SM-G960XN, SM-G960X, SM-G960XN, SM-G960XU, SC-02K, SCV38, SM-G960F, SM-G960X, SM-G960N, and SM-G960XN running Android 8.0 Oreo.

On the other hand, Google's document for supported ARCore devices shows that the following Samsung Galaxy S9+ models are supported: SM-G965U, SM-G965U1, SM-G965W, SM-G965XU, SC-03K, SCV39, SM-G965F, SM-G965X, SM-G965N, and SM-G965XN.

Numerous other Android smartphones support Google's ARCore

The updated list of supported ARCore devices also includes the recently released Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8+ smartphones, as well as last year's Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+, Samsung Galaxy A5, and Samsung Galaxy A7 models, and the older Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge.

Among other supported devices, we can mention Asus Zenfone AR, Asus ZenFone Ares, Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 8 Sirocco, Huawei P20, P20 Porsche and P20 Pro, LG G6 and LG G7, Moto G (5S) Plus, Moto G6+, Moto Z2 Force, OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 5, Sony Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact, Sony Xperia XZ Premium, and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S.

Of course, Google's ARCore augmented reality platform is well supported on all the officially supported Google devices, including Google Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, as well as Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL. Google announced the release of ARCore 1.2 during its Google I/O 2018 event last week.
