14 DAY TRIAL // Just a few hours are left until Samsung will announce its newest flagship, the Galaxy S8 and S8+, while details about the device continue to leak online. The latest reveals the phone’s user guide, giving away exciting new features.
The user guide was posted on Samsung’s download center and it reveals details about every feature and setting portrayed in images that show how to enable each tool and make the most out of the Galaxy S8. However, the labels call the phone the Galaxy S7 edge, but the detailed Bixby and DeX functionality prove that it’s actually the Galaxy S8. Samsung probably wanted to keep the file a secret, in case someone stumbled upon it.
Samsung will offer multiple features for the Infinity Display on the Galaxy S8, including Always on Display, Multi window support for running two apps simultaneously and edge screen. The latter is quite similar to the feature offered on Galaxy S7 edge phones, allowing users to capture an area of content and share it with others or access frequently used apps.
Bixby features and security tools detailed
The user guide also details some Bixby features, like the AI assistant’s capacity to analyze usage patterns, provide suggested information based on user routine or update weather forecast, alarms, reminders, and more.
Bixby Vision is a feature for searching images; users simply need to use the camera to scan objects or locations and search for products online. Text can also be translated simply by using the rear camera. Since it’s an AI assistant, Bixby will come with conversational skills, as Samsung recently announced.
When it comes to security features, the Galaxy S8 will integrate iris, fingerprint and face recognition, as well as Samsung Folder for protecting private apps and content or Samsung Pass for verifying user identity via biometric data.
The document also mentions the camera, but doesn’t reveal many details, except for the fact that it will have autofocus on the front. In fact, there are quite a few reliable details about camera capabilities on the new phone. The Galaxy S8 will also offer access to Samsung Pay, Samsung DeX, Connect and Cloud.
