Samsung is currently busy handling the Galaxy Note 7 situation, which doesn’t seem to be getting any better. The company will surely be betting on its next flagship smartphone to bring back some of its customers and partially restore the company’s reputation.

The South Korean tech giant recently filed two trademark applications for the dual camera setup on the upcoming Galaxy S8. Apparently, the trademark applications were filed in South Korea and are entitled LightUp Camera and Light+ Camera, according to Galaxy Club.

It’s highly likely that the trademark applications are for the rear camera setup on the Galaxy S8. The applications come with a description section, which mentions that it’s a camera sensor for enhancing brightness and clearness of digital images and photographs taken in low-light conditions.

The Galaxy S8 might have 16MP and 8MP camera sensors on the back

This might be the features found in the secondary camera of a dual camera setup. Recent rumors regarding the Galaxy S8 mention that the dual camera setup might come with a 16MP sensor and an 8MP camera for improved photography features, even in low-light conditions.

We have recently reported that the Galaxy S8 will be announced during MWC 2017 on February 26. Other rumors regarding the upcoming smartphone show that Samsung might make some major hardware and design changes. The company might remove the home button entirely and place the fingerprint scanner inside the display.

The screen could be curved at the top and bottom, while the phone is expected to come with an iris scanner as well. Specs of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 leaked last month, but they should definitely be taken with a grain of salt.

The new handset could be released in two variants, known as Dream and Dream2. The Galaxy S8 could come with a 5.2-inch 4k display with 4096 x 2160 pixel resolution and 6GB of RAM. Internal memory could be 64GB or 128GB with the option to add more. The phone might run Android 7.0 Nougat at launch, but that remains to be seen.
