The company will use the time to regain customers' trust

There have been rumors in the past claiming that Samsung might not launch the Galaxy S8 at Mobile World Congress (MWC) trade fair and that the phone would be unveiled much later at a dedicated event held in the United States.

Now, a new report claims exactly the same thing. However, this time the information comes from a group of participants at Samsung's global strategy meeting that's now being held at the company's headquarters in South Korea.

The new President of Samsung Mobile, Koh Dong-jin, was very specific during the conference and said that his company needs some time to regain customers' trust in the Samsung brand, which is why the Galaxy S8 will be unveiled sometime in April at a dedicated event in New York.

Another reason might be the fact that Samsung plans to announce the results of the Galaxy Note 7 investigation in early 2017.

In order to avoid splitting the attention of the public (and the press) between the reveal of the cause of the Note 7's explosions and the launch of the Galaxy S8, Samsung might have decided to delay the latter.

At the same time, Koh Dong-jin reiterated the importance of keeping the information about the Galaxy S8 inside the company and not leaking any details about the flagship.

Now that the development cycle has been prolonged by roughly two months, it will be harder for the South Korean company to keep the secret.

Even though the information about the Galaxy S8's announcement being delayed until April allegedly comes directly from Samsung, the South Korean company hasn't made it official, which means nothing is certain at the moment.

We're still two months away from Mobile World Congress, so if Samsung doesn't make any announcements concerning the launch of the Galaxy S8 by then, we'll know more once the trade fair kicks off in late February.
