After the Galaxy Note 7 disaster, smartphone maker Samsung is surely focusing all of its attention on the next flagship, the Galaxy S8. Rumors about the smartphone have been pouring in for some time now, prompting even the company’s CEO to urge employees to keep things quiet.

But it seems that information continues to surface. According to a recent report by Naver News (via SamMobile), the Galaxy S8 Plus might come with a 6-inch display. If this information is accurate, Samsung might release a phablet variant of the Galaxy S8.

Many recent rumors have pointed to the fact that Samsung will launch two variants of the Galaxy S8, both with dual-edge screens. It seems that fans won’t be enjoying a flat screen variant of the latest phone in the Galaxy S series, and the decision might have been connected to the fact that the Galaxy S7 edge recorded higher sales compared to its flat variant.

Production of parts for the Galaxy S8 will reportedly start next month

The prospect of a Galaxy S8 with a large 6-inch display does seem exciting, but take this information with a grain of salt, as nothing is certain until official announcements are made. However, the Plus moniker does seem in line with the Galaxy S series, seeing how the Galaxy S6 edge+ variant came with a much larger display of 5.7 inches.

The report also claims that Samsung Electronics has already ordered suppliers to start production on parts for the 6-inch Galaxy S8 Plus and the 5-inch Galaxy S8 from next month. The two smartphones might not be announced during the Mobile World Congress 2017, Samsung is said to organize a separate event in April 2017 in New York City.

Seeing how this latest report states the elimination of the physical home button is almost a certainty, it seems that Samsung will be relocating the fingerprint scanner to the back of the Galaxy S8 phones.
