Samsung will announce the official unveiling date for the Galaxy S8 on February 26, during its MWC press event. The phone is rumored to arrive on March 29 and it seems that new images continue to leak online.
The latest leaked images come from Benjamin Geskin and reveal a supposed Galaxy S8 with protective glass on the display. The pictures show a dual-curved display and no physical home button on a seemingly prototype unit of the Galaxy S8.
Instead, the phone appears to have a capacitive on-screen button for accessing various sections, including edge apps. The back button appears to be on the right side of the display, while smaller bezels on the top and bottom would offer more room for the screen.
Always On Display and ports on the new phone
One of the images seems to tease the Always on Display on the upcoming Galaxy S8, which should have roughly the same features as on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Additionally, the smartphone appears to come with an USB Type-C port and 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom, together with a speaker.
Furthermore, pictures do suggest an iris scanner on the Galaxy S8 and S8+, but that remains to be officially confirmed on March 29. Galaxy S8 is also rumored to run Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC or Exynos 9810, depending on region. It might have its own Bixby virtual assistant and run the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
As usual when it comes to leaks before official announcements, take these images with a grain of salt.
The smartphone is rumored to be made available in multiple color variants, including Black, Gold and Orchid Gray, while the latest leaked images reveal a black unit. Samsung is also said to launch a new Gear VR to go with the Galaxy S8 and S8+, considering that the latter might have a 6.2-inch display.
