Great news for fans of the 3D Touch technology, the same that Apple has been using since the launch of the iPhone 6s, as Samsung is likely to adopt the technology beginning next year.

According to sources in the industry, the technology known as force touch or 3D Touch will be part of the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship, The Investor reports. The information has been confirmed by a Samsung supplier who wanted to remain anonymous.

Samsung is mulling to adopt the force touch technology partially from the S8 but the full adoption will come in one or two years. It is a matter of time before other major Android smartphone makers deploy the technology that will help enhance user interface.”

The Galaxy S8 won't be the first Android smartphone to adopt the 3D Touch technology, as Huawei launched its Mate S about a year ago and its display did come with force touch technology.

Obviously, everyone knows that Apple has been very keen on including this type of display technology into its smartphones starting with the iPhone 6s. Now both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus benefit from 3D Touch.

Since Samsung is one of the world's biggest smartphone suppliers, it's also the company that offers 3D Touch-compatible displays to Huawei, so the switch to this technology for its flagship smartphones won't be an issue.

Samsung plans to adopt the technology slowly, but surely

However, a Samsung official who did not want to be named has confirmed that the South Korean company will slowly but surely adopt the 3D Touch technology “in the near future.”

It's also worth noting that Android 7.1 Nougat already has new force touch-based features in the form of App Shortcuts, so it remains to be seen how fast the new technology will be adopted by other companies that launch Android phones.

It makes sense that Samsung would be among the first, but who's going to follow in its footsteps, aside from Huawei?
