Both flagship smartphones have been spotted at FCC

Samsung has already confirmed its Galaxy S flagships will be unveiled on March 29, so it's no surprise that the smartphones have been recently spotted at one of the regulatory commissions that certify new products before they go on sale.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have been certified at FCC (Federal Communications Commission) recently, which puts them one step closer to launch.

We haven't learned any new details about the smartphones, but we now know the Galaxy S8 will feature multiple model numbers: SM-G950U, SM-G950U1, and SM-G950W. The Galaxy S8+ model numbers are almost similar, as only the last number is changed: SM-G955U, SM-G955U1, and SM-G955W.

Some of these model numbers are meant for certain carriers, while others will be available in specific countries and/or regions. It's also worth mentioning that Samsung may launch different variants of either the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+, so the list of model numbers could grow even bigger.

A couple of other details are mentioned in the documents filed at FCC, such as wireless charging support and NFC (Near Field Communication). Also, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, or at least some versions of these flagships, will feature FM Radio, as well as USB OTG (on-the-go).

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and camera are mentioned as well, but these features are quite standard for any smartphone launched these days. Another piece of information confirmed by the listing is the fact that both handsets will pack microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are said to come in two variants, with either 64GB or 128GB of internal memory. Although that should be enough for most average users, many are probably looking for something extreme, so Samsung is likely to deliver.

Although both flagship smartphones will be announced on March 29, they will not go on sale until April 28, the latest reports claim.
