14 DAY TRIAL // Earlier today, we showed you another leaked live image of the Galaxy S8, aside from the renders from case makers and rumors about design that we’ve picked up lately. Now it appears that the dimensions for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus models have surfaced.
The measurements are from a case maker that also leaked out 3D renders of the phone a while back. The report by GSMArena shows that the larger of the two models, the Galaxy S8 Plus, will measure 152.38 x 78.51 x 7.94 mm, which means a screen size of about 6.3 inches, without counting the size of its two curved sides.
This means that the actual display for the S8 Plus variant will be larger. Anyway, the Galaxy S8 Plus will actually be taller and wider than the Galaxy S7 edge, showing that Samsung is aiming at upping the size of its upcoming flagships.
The Galaxy S8 might feature a display of at least 5.7 inches
Moving on, the standard Galaxy S8 model will measure 140.14 x 72.20 x 7.30 mm, which adds up to a display size of at least 5.7 inches, without taking into account its side curves. The Galaxy S8 might have a larger display compared to the 5.5-inch screen on the S7 edge and will be shorter and thinner than the S7. The Galaxy S7 had a display size of 5.1 inches and measured 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9 mm. Overall, the phones will most certainly be wider than their predecessors.
While we’re on the subject of displays, the Galaxy S8 is also rumored to come with 4096 x 2160 screen resolution and maybe new technology similar to iPhone’s 3D Touch.
The schematics also show a microUSB 2.0, which is quite odd considering that Samsung has long been rumored to feature USB Type-C ports on its new phones.
The two Galaxy S8 phones might be showcased during MWC 2017 next month, while the latest rumor says that they might be launched on April 15.
