Samsung is expected to soon deliver an Active variant of the Galaxy S8, one that would feature a rugged look and higher protection against drops. The Galaxy S8 Active has just received WiFi certification, signaling a release soon.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active with the code number SM-G892A has just received WiFi certification, meaning that the smartphone will be released soon. Sadly, the listing doesn’t reveal any details about the upcoming phone, except for the fact that it will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

Still, the Galaxy S8 Active is expected to come with a battery larger than the one found on the Galaxy S8+, a 4,000mAh juicer, similar to the one on the Galaxy S7 Active. It’s also said to feature MIL-STD-810G certification for enhanced protection against damage, aside from its IP68 protection against water and dust damages, also found on the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The smartphone was also recently spotted in the User Agent String with the code number SM-G892A.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Active will arrive at AT&T

At this point, it’s unclear if it will have the Active Key or the Bixby button for instantly activating Samsung’s virtual assistant. Aside from this, the smartphone should have the same internals as the Galaxy S8, meaning that it will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 platform, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage.

The rear camera will have a 12MP sensor with OIS and LED flash, while the front camera will have an 8MP lens with autofocus and f/1.7 aperture. It will also feature USB Type-C port and a fingerprint scanner mounted on the back.

The Galaxy S8 Active will most likely arrive at AT&T sometime next month, about a year after the Galaxy S7 Active made its debut. Next month will be an important month for Samsung as the company is also expected to release the refurbished Galaxy Note 7R in certain countries, but not before receiving all the necessary certifications.
