14 DAY TRIAL // The official specs of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active have just leaked a couple of minutes ago, only a few days ahead of the public unveiling.
Expected to hit the shelves on August 1, the Galaxy S8 Active is obviously a tougher version of the standard Galaxy S8 that will come with improved specs, a bigger battery life, and extra durability to withstand stronger hits and shocks.
Slides that appear to come from the official Samsung presentation have been posted by user TwoLeaks on SlashLeaks, confirming that the Galaxy S8 Active will retain the features of the original model, but with a hefty upgrade here and there.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Active technical specifications
First and foremost, the device will feature a 5.8-inch AMOLED display with 2960x1440 pixels resolution and Gorilla Glass 5, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, the same 12-megapixel dual-pixel camera as on the Galaxy S8, as well as a 4,000 mAh battery with fast wireless charging.
The device will be available in the US at AT&T exclusively, and will be powered, just like the other US variants of the S8, by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chip.
In terms of durability, the phone is rated IP68 + MIL-STD-810G, which means it features a military-grade body thanks to durable metal design and shatter-resistant display.
As compared to the S8, the most notable upgrade is the battery, which has been increased from 3,000 mAh to 4,000 mAh. Dimensions have been slightly increased as well from 5.86 x 2.68 x 0.31 inches (148.8 x 68 x 7.8 mm) to 5.99 x 2.95 x 0.39 inches (152 x 74.9 x 9.9 mm), while weight was raised from 5.47 oz (155 g) to 7.30 oz (206 g).
The device will also feature Bixby personal assistant support and will obviously run Android 7.0 Nougat, just like the standard sibling. It’s expected to go on sale early next month, with pricing to start at about $650 to $750. There’s still no word on global availability for the time being.
