14 DAY TRIAL // The Galaxy S8 will surely be an exciting phone and details about its new design have surfaced, including purported images of cases for the phone. A new report shows 3D renders of the new phone, based on accurate schematics, as the anonymous case maker stated.
The 3D renders posted by GSMArena show how Samsung took the dual-edge design from the Galaxy S7 edge a step forward, removing the size bezels almost completely. In fact, you can’t even see the side bezels in the render of the Galaxy S8’s front.
The physical home button is nowhere in sight, which means that the fingerprint scanner is located at the back of the phone. With the removal of the home button, Samsung has reduced the size of the top and bottom bezels. What we don’t see anywhere on the render is the Samsung logo. It's possible to be located on the back or on the bottom front bezel, as there’s nowhere else to place it but below the display.
Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will be released in mid-April
Earlier today, we showed you the Galaxy S8 in a clear case, and noticed that the flash and heart rate sensors were placed at the top of the rear camera. The new renders show the two elements at the left side of the camera, just like on the Galaxy S7 edge.
Since there’s a single camera setup, the image most likely shows the standard Galaxy S8, rumored to come with a 5.7-inch display. The larger Galaxy S8 Plus with a 6.2-inch display will have a dual-camera setup on the back.
Samsung has decided to keep the 3.5mm headphone jack on the S8, or at least that’s what these 3D renders show. However, it’s difficult to say if the port on the phone is a USB-Type C or not, most likely it is.
Samsung revised its quality assurance procedures and pushed the release date to April 18, but hasn’t officially confirmed the date. Rumors say that the company might take advantage of MWC and showcase the new device in February.
