It's only a fraction of a second faster than Galaxy S6's

One of the many Galaxy S6 features that Samsung fans were disappointed in, the fingerprint scanner, was supposed to be greatly improved in the Galaxy S7.

Lots of Samsung Galaxy S6 owners have been complaining that the fingerprint scanner is slow in comparison with other flagships made by Huawei, Apple and Google.

The South Korean company has taken to heart all the negative feedback received on the matter and suggested that the next flagship smartphone, Galaxy S7, will come with an improved fingerprint scanner, one that will be able to read your fingerprint much faster than the Galaxy S6 does.

Although it's a bit too early for the first Galaxy S7/S7 edge reviews to pop up online, it looks like some customers who pre-ordered the smartphones have already received it.

That's the case of Reddit user infffy, who has been kind enough to test some of the Galaxy S7 edge's features and record them on video that has been published on YouTube. He has also answered some of the most pressing questions that Samsung fans have been anxious to ask.

One of the questions that many Android users have risen is how well the Galaxy S7 edge fingerprint sensor works in comparison with Samsung Galaxy S6's, which many have been complaining of in the past.

Maybe a software upgrade could make it better?

Well, the video recorded by the proud owner of the Galaxy S7 edge proves that Samsung hasn't done too much upgrading to the fingerprint scanner. Even though sometimes it's a fraction of a second faster than Galaxy S6's (no always), the improvement is almost negligible.

It's clear that the South Korean company doesn't have the means to upgrade the fingerprint scanner or the fact that it's placed under the Home button doesn't allow for more improvements.

Since the area scanned by the fingerprint sensor is rather small in comparison with let's say those that are positioned on the back side of the phone, this might prove to be the cause of this issue.

On the other hand, Apple's iPhone also has the fingerprint scanner under the Home button, but the rounded key provides a slightly larger area to read the fingerprint.
