Lots of bug fixes have been addressed, some issues remain

With end of the year fast approaching and the shopping holiday season just a few weeks away, Samsung is working hard to bring the highly-anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones.

A third Android 7.0 Nougat beta build is now rolling out to Galaxy S7/S7 edge devices in the UK, so if you've been accepted into the Galaxy Beta Program, you should expect the update to hit your phones in the next couple of hours.

Unlike the previous beta builds that brought in lots of new features and improvements, the third update adds some important bug fixes.

The official changelog mentions a few issues that haven't been addressed yet, so we expect another Nougat update to arrive in the coming days.

So, first of all, the update is meant to improve stability and add only a handful of new features or enhance some that were already included in previous updates.

Now let's take a closer look at what exactly the update brings into the mix. The Quick Panel usability has been improved (4x3 button layout, button grid menu and brightness control menu added, background color change).

Samsung also did some spacing improvements to the status bar icon and clock. Usability improvements to notifications, multi-window and lockscreen have been added too. Edge feeds have been removed and other bug fixes and stability improvements have been implemented.

As mentioned earlier, the update hasn't resolved all issues with Android 7.0 Nougat. For example, users might experience some lag when turning the screen on. Furthermore, there might be some intermittent Wi-Fi disconnections.

The reason these issues haven't been addressed yet is that Samsung hasn't yet found the causes of the problems affecting some Galaxy S7/S7 edge users.

The update is available as a manual download, so make sure you head over to Settings / Software update / Software manual download.
