There is still hope things might improve on the Galaxy S6

Despite not having a removable battery or a microSD card slot, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is still considered to be a very good device.

Granted, the battery life on the smartphone has been pretty skimpy since the beginning, but nothing has prepared Galaxy S6 owners for the troubles they were about to face when the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop came along.

As we detailed in length in an earlier post, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop basically ruins the Galaxy S6 altogether. If you updated to the latest build, you probably know this too. The update has a huge impact on the already poor battery life. On top of that, users have been confronted with the “Hangouts has stopped” error which pops up out of the blue every few hours. It doesn’t even matter if you manually disable Hangouts.

Another odd post-update error displays the following message: “Sorry, the media file doesn’t exist on your SD card” (referring to some photos received via WhatsApp which we were trying to access and were not able to).

Needless to say, the Galaxy S6 doesn’t have a microSD card, so where is this all coming from?

Mystery post-Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update pops up

Affected users have been praying and hoping that Samsung will do something about these mind-bending problems. And today we get word that Sammy is rolling out the first update after Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Sam Mobile has received a tip from a user in France saying that he was just served a 230MB update which carries build number G920FXXU2BOG8.

Samsung doesn’t specifically define what the update is all about, but we have to guess the new build has been issued in order to fix the problems brought about by Android 5.1.1.

Given the limited availability of the new software, we’re not exactly sure what the outcome of the update will be, but as more and more users receive it, we’ll know more.

For the moment, we’re not seeing the new build in Kies or any other region, but given that the new update has already been rolled out in France, we can guess other European countries will be hit pretty soon.
