Samsung has already kicked off the rollout of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop upgrade for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, but as expected, US-based carrier Verizon is late to the party.

The Big Red announced today that there's a new software update available for the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S6. Owners of these smartphones will be pleased to know that this is, in fact, the highly anticipated Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update.

According to the official changelog, aside from the new features and improvements included in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, the update brings some extra goodies that should appeal to Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S6 owners.

For example, Samsung confirmed it managed to fix an issue where sometimes “Contacts has stopped” would pop up. The update also solves a no service condition when traveling to Puerto Rico, along with another one where sometimes the Mobile Data icon would disappear from the Quick Panel.

The South Korean handset maker also states that it has made some improvements to auto-correction and predictive text in native keypad.

Support for Chinese Mandarin has been added, too

Some enhancements to home screen have been included as well, such as the added option to turn parallax “Wallpaper motion effect” Off if desired. Also, the update should bring some Live Wallpaper options for lock screen wallpaper.

When it comes to camera, Samsung added a feature to allow Exposure value to be adjusted from within the camera viewfinder. This means that Exposure can now be changed by pressing and moving the slider up or down.

Last but not least, the latest update for Verizon's Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge adds support for Chinese Mandarin phonetic symbols and Cngjie as Input Languages.

Keep in mind that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might take a few days until it reaches all Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge devices.
