Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 9 could come with a 6.4-inch display and feature a battery as large as 4,000 mAh, according to new reports.

While it’s essential to have in mind that these are just rumors and nothing more, a bigger battery and a larger screen make sense for the Galaxy Note 9 and certainly align with previous speculation.

The Note 8 features a 6.3-inch display and a 3300 mAh battery, and while a bigger 6.4-inch screen wouldn’t be such a major upgrade, switching to a 4000 mAh battery unit would certainly bring substantial changes.

The slightly bigger display could signal minor tweaks in terms of design, as Samsung might have either managed to reduce the bezels, and thus offer more screen space, or decided to make the device itself a bit larger, again in an attempt to offer a bigger screen. This latter scenario appears to make a bit more sense given that the phone makers have a hard time fitting more technology on their devices without increasing dimensions.

Fingerprint sensor embedded into the screen?

As for the battery upgrade, a 4,000 mAh unit could help Samsung get enough juice to power other upgrades coming to the Galaxy Note 9. At the same time, it could also be a sign that the company managed to get more space under the hood, which in turn could be a hit that the company might launch the Note 9 with a fingerprint sensor integrated into the screen.

This fingerprint scanner, however, is unlikely to be ready for the Note 9, analysts with a good track on mobile snoops said, so in the end, both the bigger screen and the battery upgrade could be enabled by overall increased dimensions of the device.

Without a doubt, all these rumors should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism for the time being, as we’re still far from the moment the Note 9 is supposed to see daylight. According to the rumor mill, this could happen in August or even earlier if everything goes as planned.
