Information about the Galaxy Note 8 started surfacing quite a while ago and a new report from Korea confirms that the smartphone will come with a dual-camera setup and will be announced in the second half of this year, which seems quite obvious at this point.

The Galaxy Note 8 was previously said to be the first Samsung smartphone to feature a dual-camera setup on the back, but recent claims have revealed that the Galaxy C10 phone will actually have two lenses on the rear panel.

Samsung sometimes tests out premium features on not-so-premium smartphones, to assess market reaction and see if consumers are pleased with them. The same happened with the iris scanner which debuted on a tablet designed for Korea, before being featured on the Galaxy Note 7.

The Galaxy Note 8 will be announced in the second half of this year

The successor to last year’s Galaxy Note 7 is expected to launch in August, before IFA in Berlin, scheduled at the start of September. IFA’s chief did recently say that he wished the Galaxy Note 8 would be unveiled during the tech event in Germany, but Samsung hasn’t made any comments on this.

Aside from a dual-camera setup, the Galaxy Note 8 will also come with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 processor in some regions. The smartphone is expected to be made out of metal and it will most likely run Android Nougat out of the box. The device will most likely come with Bixby AI integration and feature a USB Type-C port.

Until the Galaxy Note 8 arrives to the market, Samsung has said that it intends to release the refurbished Galaxy Note 7. The smartphone was already spotted in China in two variants, one that had the same battery capacity as the previous original model and one featured a 3,200mAh juicer. The Galaxy Note 7R will arrive in Korea and a number of emerging markets.
