The Note 8 looks 99 percent just like a Samsung Galaxy S8

New renders and a 360-degree video revealing the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 have just leaked, providing us with an early look at the upcoming phablet due in September.

While the legitimacy of leaks is sometimes questionable, to say the least, these new renders are very likely to be super-close to the real deal, as they come from @OnLeaks and 91mobiles.com, who have a good track on information on unreleased devices.

When looking at the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the first thing that you notice is certainly the redesigned back, which features a dual-camera configuration positioned horizontally – this is opposed to Apple, whose iPhone 8 also due in September is expected to come with vertical dual cameras.

What’s more striking, however, is the large rear bump on the back, as it houses not only the cameras, but also the flash and the fingerprint sensor. These renders basically put an end to rumors of a fingerprint sensor embedded into the screen, as they show that Samsung is not ready to go for such tech just yet, so the reader will still be on the back, only that it’ll be moved closer to the edge of the phone.

The phone will measure 162.4 x 62.4 x 8.4mm, but because of the camera bump, thickness will increase to 9.5mm, so it adds 1.1mm to the device.

The Note 8 looks pretty much like the Samsung Galaxy S8 featuring a 6.3-inch display (versus 6.2-inch on the Plus model), and aside from the slightly redesigned back, it also features a stylus cutout where the S Pen will be stored. A revised version of the Pen is expected as well.

For hardware, the Samsung phablet will come with the same chips as the Galaxy S8, namely the Snapdragon 835 or the Exynos 8895 (depending on market), while RAM will be increased to 6GB, just like on the Korean variant of the S8. The cameras will feature 12-megapixel resolution, while battery come in the form of 3,300 mAh units with fast charging and wireless charging.

The device is projected to launch in the second half of September, most likely a few weeks after the iPhone 8, with sales to begin shortly after that, probably in the early days of October.
