Rumors about a 6GB of RAM variant of the Galaxy Note 7 had surfaced a few months ago, even before the smartphone was officially announced. The prospect of such great RAM capacity got many excited, as it would have meant higher processing speeds for fans of the Note series.

However, as we neared the Galaxy Unpacked event on August 2, all rumors and leaks seemed to point to a 4GB of RAM model with 64GB of internal storage. Fans would have to make do with less RAM capacity than they'd hoped for, but the dual-edge screen and iris scanner were enough to take their minds off the decrease in RAM capacity.

But as the release in China approached, word got out that the 6GB of RAM model did exist and that Samsung intended to launch it in the country. In fact, even a Samsung exec said that the company was working on such a model, and rumors suggested that it would come with 128GB of internal storage as well.

The Galaxy Note 7 with 6GB of RAM could cost $1048

The launch event in China came, and we were all surprised to see the 4GB of RAM model once again. Fans of the Galaxy Note 7 in China didn't seem too disappointed, as Samsung recorded over 1 million registrations two hours after the unveiling.

A few days after the event in China, an image of a Galaxy Note 7 retail box leaked online via Anzhuo, and it shows the 6GB of RAM model. The source also mentions that the smartphone could carry a price tag of $1048.

Samsung will most likely make this smartphone available in China, seeing how many of its competitors in the country push to offer handsets with increasingly more RAM. It remains to be seen if the 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage variant will ever see the light of day, but there still is a slight chance that it will.
