Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 is rapidly approaching its release date, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that information about it continues to pour in daily. The latest regards the iris scanner, which is featured in a leaked image portraying the front panel of the Note 7.

Famous leakster OnLeaks and Android Authority have provided us with a picture of Samsung Galaxy Note 7's front panel that reveals the rumored iris scanner. The front cover glass of the Note 7 shows that the device will indeed come with a dual-curved design resembling the Galaxy S7 Edge.

As mentioned, the image suggests that the smartphone will be featuring an iris scanner on the front. The iris scanner will most likely be used as an alternative to the fingerprint scanner, which is packed on many flagship phones nowadays. It's worth noting that this feature was long rumored to be offered on the Note 7.

Samsung's logo might not be featured on the front panel of Note 7

This is not the first Samsung device to receive an iris scanner since, not long ago, Samsung released the Galaxy Tab Iris in India. The handset was made available to government officials and enterprises based in the country.

What's more, the image also hints that the iris scanner will be positioned at the top of the screen, and Samsung might not place its logo on the front, in order to reduce the bezel size.

The specs of the Galaxy Note 7 have recently surfaced online, indicating that the smartphone will sport a 5.8- or 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, 6GB of RAM, and a 12MP camera on the back with dual-pixel phase detection autofocus. Battery size could reach 3,600mAh or 4,000mAh.

The smartphone is expected to run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with a new version of TouchWiz on top. The wait will be over on August 2, when Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 7 at an event that will be held in New York.
