Samsung has just unveiled the Galaxy Note 7 during the Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event held in New York City. The Galaxy Note 7 is all that and even more, as Samsung representatives have presented all of its features on stage.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 was officially unveiled during the Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event, nearly five years after the first Note was unveiled. The new Note bears the 7 moniker in order to be in line with the Galaxy S7 series.

The Galaxy Note 7 has many of the features that last year's Note 5 had, but it combines the design and waterproof certification of the Galaxy S7 Edge. Samsung announced that the Note 7 will be available at all four major carriers in the US starting August 19, while pre-orders start tomorrow on August 3.

Samsung announced that the price will be the higher than that of the S7 edge, which is about $770 to $800. The unlocked version of the Galaxy Note 7 will be available at a later date.

The Galaxy Note 7 has similar specs to the Galaxy S7 edge

A comparison with the Galaxy S7 edge can be made in terms of the phone's design and specifications. The Note 7 comes with the same Super AMOLED display with quad HD display at a size of 5.7 inches. Because of the curved display, the Note 7 is 2.2mm narrower than the Note 5, but has the same display size. The rear glass has an identical curve to the front, while both pieces of glass are Gorilla Glass 5. The Note 7 is the first in the series to come with USB Type-C charging.

Some rumors on the Galaxy Note 7 have been confirmed, which means that the smartphone comes with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor in the US, as found on the Galaxy S series. Other markets will see the octa-core processor Exynos 8890.

Note 7 and S Pen come with IP68 certification

The Galaxy Note 7 comes with a base internal storage capacity of 64GB, which is double compared to that on the Galaxy S7 edge. The Note is available with 4GB of RAM, as well as the same 12MP dual pixel sensor on the back that can be found on the S7 edge, which means that it has f/1.7 lens and larger 1.4 µm pixels for snapping pictures. 4K video capturing is available for capturing videos in the best quality possible on a smartphone.

The Galaxy Note 7 comes with a feature that isn't found on the S7 edge, IP68 certification. The Note 7 can survive after being submerged into water and the S Pen also received waterproof resistance for the first time. Battery capacity in the Note series was upped from 3,000mAh on the Note 5 to 3,500mAh on the latest Note in the line.

As expected, the Galaxy Note 7 comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, while Samsung says it will be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat in the near future.
