It hasn’t been that long since Samsung launched its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S7, on the market, but the South Korean company is already working on its next top-tier handset.

Samsung Galaxy Note 6 won’t be released in fall at IFA trade fair, as many previous models in the Galaxy Note family were; instead, the phablet is rumored to arrive in July-August, just like the Galaxy Note 5 last year.

The first information about Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone leaked last month when we reported that Galaxy Note 6 is likely to pack 6GB of RAM and no less than 256GB of internal memory.

Today, the folks over at SamMobile have more details about the Galaxy Note 6. According to them, the smartphone will feature an IP68 water resistant body, just like the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge flagships.

It could be one of the few phablets to offer true water resistance

The IP68 certification would allow the smartphone to be submerged in one and a half meters of water for about half an hour. If the information proves to be accurate, the Galaxy Note 6 could be one of the first phablets to offer true water and dust resistance, along with Galaxy S7 edge.

But that’s not all the new details about Samsung Galaxy Note 6 that leaked online recently. The Dutch blog GalaxyClub reports the phablet is likely to feature an iris scanner as well.

The information was uncovered in India where Samsung has imported an “iris cam” for R&D activities. This particular electronic component has been labeled “Samsung Mobile,” which is why it’s believed to be part of the Galaxy Note 6.

Even though it might sound a bit far-stretched, it wouldn’t be unusual for a flagship smartphone, especially one developed by Samsung, to include an iris scanner.

As mentioned earlier, Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is now expected to arrive on the market in mid-July. Also, the smartphone will be introduced in Europe, as well as other regions.
