To have or not to have a microSD card, this is the question

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 made a debut into the wild last year with a microSD card slot, but so did the Galaxy S5. In 2015, however, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S6, a phone that sacrifices function for form and it sheds the microSD functionality so many Samsung enthusiasts cherished.

And now that the Galaxy Note 5 is en route to the market, Samsung fans were left pondering on this particular aspect: will the phablet come with a microSD card slot or not? A recent leaked RDF document which mentions the phablet seems to confirm the existence of an external memory slot.

However, the most recent leak from popular leakster Evan Blass reveals that the phone will actually arrive devoid of a microSD card slot. Blass actually lists the purported specs of the upcoming phablet, thus confirming that the device will make it out with a 5.66-inch display with 1440 x 2560 resolution and a consistent pixel density of 515 ppi.

No Exynos 7422 chipset on board, it seems

Powering the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be an Exynos 7420 chipset, which is the same SoC you will find on board the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. The phablet will be the first in Samsung’s portfolio to offer 4GB of RAM out of the box, in combination with 32GB of internal storage.

The handset will accommodate a 16MP snapper up in front, as is the case with Sammy’s recent high-end models, including the Galaxy S6, while in the selfie department it will take advantage of a 5MP frontal camera. Last but not least, the phone should ship out with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

The Note 5 will take advantage of a 4,100 mAh battery, so it should be able to sustain decent battery life.

This weekend, we showed you the first press render of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, alongside the Galaxy S6 edge+. During the Unpacked event, which is scheduled to take place in New York on August 13, Samsung is also expected to introduce the Galaxy S6 edge+ phablet, a larger variation of the Galaxy S6 edge.

The South Korean device maker is said to place deeper marketing focus on said model than on the Galaxy Note 5, which will not be initially available in a lot of markets.
