It will have IP68 certification among other things

Unveiled earlier this month, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ are already for purchase in the United States and will soon be available in other countries.

However, it appears that the South Korean company has one more surprise for Samsung fans in the form of a rugged version of Galaxy Note 5.

The folks over at PhoneArena have been tipped on a possible November release for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Active, though an exact launch date has yet to be confirmed.

The new rumor comes in line with previous leaks that claimed the Galaxy Note 5 might be powered by a beefy 4,100 mAh battery. As it turned out, the standard Samsung Galaxy Note 5 packs a much smaller 3,000 mAh battery, which was a bit disappointing for fans of the Note series.

The good news is Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Active might be the smartphone to pack a 4,100 mAh battery, though it's unclear whether or not it will be removable.

It's also worth mentioning that the rugged version of Galaxy Note 5 will feature IP68 certification, which makes it dust and waterproof.

It will be launched in the US via AT&T

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Active will be initially released at AT&T, but there's a high chance that it will make it to other countries and carriers after the exclusivity period is over.

Apart from the larger battery and IP68 certification, the Galaxy Note 5 Active is likely to have the same features as the standard model.

The information hasn't been confirmed yet, but if true, the Galaxy Note 5 Active will be powered by the same 64-bit 2.1GHz octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, complemented by a Mali T760MP8 graphics processing unit and 4GB of RAM.

We're not sure if Samsung will launch multiple version of the Galaxy Note 5 Active, but the standard variant comes in 32GB and 64GB models. Since the smartphone lacks microSD card slot, this is rather important.

Other specs of the Galaxy Note 5 Active might include 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 coating, 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.
