The list of confirmed devices to receive the update leaks

Google recently unveiled the official name of its next Android version, but also released the last developer preview build before the OS gets launched.

Even though the exact release date of Android 6.0 Marshmallow is still unclear, we do know that Google should make it available sometime this fall, probably in October.

This means that some or all Nexus devices compatible with the upgrade should get it by the end of this year. But what about the rest of the supported smartphones and tablets that fully support the new OS?

While both Motorola and HTC confirmed that some of their latest handsets will receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow for sure, they have yet to announce when exactly the update will be available and which devices will get it.

Samsung is one of the companies that are still mum on the subject, even though the handset maker recently published an infographic explaining how the company will focus on the release of Marshmallow updates.

Samsung might add more devices later on

According to YouMobile, sources familiar with Samsung's plans claim they have the list of smartphones and tablets that will receive the update by early 2016. The list isn't complete as Samsung might add a few more devices in the coming months.

The list of Samsung devices confirmed to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrades contains the following devices: Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Duos, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 4 Duos, Galaxy Note edge, Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Tab A.

The same source claims that Samsung will start working on Android 6.0 Marshmallow as soon as it gets the final build from Google, and after the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop rollout is complete.

As mentioned earlier, this isn't the final list of Samsung devices that will receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates, so if your handset or tablet is not listed, you can keep hoping.
