Samsung is said to be working on Tizen-based smartphones, including the Samsung Z2 which is said to be announced on August 23. Samsung also intends to unveil the Galaxy J7 Prime in the next period of time, considering that specs and pictures have leaked out recently.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy J7 smartphone back in June 2015 and it came with some decent specs for its price of about $235 (€215). Specifically, the smartphone had a 64-bit 1.5 GHz octa-core Exynos 7580 processor, coupled with Mali-T720 graphics processing unit and 1.5GB of RAM.

Aside from this, the smartphone came with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with 720p resolution. Internal capacity reached 16GB and the smartphone came with a 13MP rear camera, together with a 5MP selfie camera. Galaxy J7 drew power from a 3,000mAh battery. It ran Android 5.1 Lollipop with Samsung TouchWiz UI on top.

Earlier this year, Samsung released a revamped version of the Galaxy J7. This variant came with more RAM, a better display resolution and a more powerful processor.

Galaxy J7 Prime could come with a fingerprint sensor in the home button

Specs and images of the Galaxy J7 Prime leaked over at Vietnamese site Techrum, which led us to believe that the smartphone won't be competing against the Galaxy J7 (2016), but will be a mid-range smartphone, offered at a medium price.

The Galaxy J7 Prime is said to come with an upgraded display, more RAM, a better camera and a biometric scanner. Consequently, the smartphone will come with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, which means a resolution of 1920 x 1080p. It will run a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 or a 1.5GHz octa-core Snpdragon 615 processor.

RAM capacity is said to reach 3GB and internal memory could be 32GB with the possibility to add more using a microSD card. Rear camera capacity could be 13MP with f/1.9 flash LED, while the selfie camera could have 8MP. Galaxy J7 Prime will feature a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button and draw power from a 3,300mAh battery. It could run Android 6.0 Marshmallow and there's no details on the pricing and launch date yet.
