By now it's pretty clear that Samsung plans to launch a mid-range smartphone very soon, the Galaxy J7 (2017). The device was spotted recently in benchmarks, but the handset made an appearance at some of the regulatory entities that must approve it before it goes on sale.

Today, a new set of benchmark results stored in GFXBench's database confirm some of the Galaxy J7 (2017)'s rumored specs. There are some inaccuracies as well, but that's probably because the device didn't report its specifications correctly when the benchmark was run.

Although previous rumors claimed the Galaxy J7 (2017) would sport a 5.5-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution, the benchmark now lists the device with a less impressive HD (720p) resolution.

More importantly, the smartphone was said to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD card).

The device tested in GFXBench is equipped with a completely different Exynos 7870 chipset and only 2GB of RAM. The amount of storage remains the same, though, 16GB.

Even though the partial results shown by the benchmark indicate the phone features an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, we believe previous reports are more accurate, so the Galaxy J7 (2017) is likely to come with a superior 13-megapixel main camera.

What all reports have in common is the fact that the Galaxy J7 (2017) will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box, and that the phone will include a 5-megapixel selfie camera.

Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) is expected to be released in the United States in the not so distant future. Many carriers such as AT&T, U.S. Cellular and T-Mobile will offer the handset in the country, but details about the phone's price are unknown for the moment.
