Samsung has been working on an upcoming Galaxy J phone, as the device has already been spotted in 3D renders based on schematics. In addition, the phone passed through Geekbench recently and some of its specs are already known.

The latest report by SamMobile shows the phone’s design in images from a case maker. If the phone in the pictures is really the Galaxy J7 (2017), then it will sport a design similar to the previously released Galaxy J3 Emerge. Apparently, smartphones in Samsung’s Galaxy J series will sport a similar design, to make them stand out from other lines of devices.

The images show the smartphone’s microUSB port, the 3.5mm headphone jack and two mics for noise-cancellation. The Galaxy J7 (2017) might come with fast charging capabilities, thus borrowing some features from higher-end models.

The Galaxy J7 (2017) might run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box

The previous Geekbench listing showed that the Galaxy J7 (2017) might incorporate an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.2GHz and 2GB of RAM. Its display might have 5.5 inches and Full HD resolution.

Battery capacity could reach 3,000mAh with fast charging, while internal memory might be 16GB with the option to expand it using a microSD card. Moreover, its back panel could be made out of metal and incorporate a 13MP camera, accompanied by a 5MP unit in the front. The device is said to measure 51.34 x 76.20 x 8 mm, according to previously leaked renders. Samsung might launch the Galaxy J7 (2017) with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

The smartphone was already imported in India for testing and received WiFi certification a while ago. It will also pass through the FCC in the coming weeks. It might be made available at Verizon Wireless, while an official launch is rumored to come in April 2017.
