It's no secret that Samsung plans to refresh its Galaxy J series with new smartphones, as we've already reported about a handful of devices that haven't been announced yet.

For those who don't recall our previous reports, the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) were certified at Bluetooth SIG about a month ago, but no details on their specs surfaced at that time.

Today, both upcoming handsets have been spotted at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, which points to an imminent launch.

Along with their listing at TENAA, we also get to see what these smartphones look like since the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) have had their pictures included in the official documents.

At least two Galaxy J7 (2016) variants have been certified at TENAA: China Mobile and China Telecom. So customers in China should expect the handsets to arrive at these two carriers when Samsung decides to make them available.

Moving on to specs, Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) sports a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

Both come with 13MP cameras and Android 5.1.1

On the back, there's a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash, laser autofocus, and video recording, whereas, on the front, there's a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera.

The Galaxy J5 (2016) is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage that can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

Next in line, Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) comes with a slightly larger 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

However, it packs a similar 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, laser autofocus, and video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel camera on the front.

The Galaxy J7 (2016) comes equipped with a 1.6GHz/1.5GHz octa-core processor, paired with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

Sadly, both mid-range smartphones will ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box. Hopefully, Samsung will provide Marshmallow upgrades for these devices later this year.
