One of the cheapest phones launched by the handset maker

One of the cheapest Samsung series of smartphones, the Galaxy J will certainly be refreshed in the next couple of months. Probably the first device in the J series that Samsung plans to launch is the Galaxy J3 (2017).

The device has been spotted in a few benchmarks in the past and it's even been certified by the FCC (Federal Communication Commission), but Samsung has yet to make it official.

Until then, reputable leaker Evan Blass posted the first press render of the phone. He also notes that the device in the picture is the regular Galaxy J (2017) model, not the Pro version.

That being said, it looks like Samsung will launch a slightly better version of the Galaxy J (2017), though we're not convinced that both will be available worldwide.

There are no details about price and availability yet, but the home screen of the Galaxy J3 (2017) in the leaked image has the date set to December 1, so there's a high chance the phone will be released in just a few weeks.

The Pro version might be available in select markets only

As mentioned earlier, this isn't a high-end Samsung phone, though it will most likely ship with the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box.

Aside from that, we've also learned the phone is supposed to pack a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and 2GB of RAM. There's no mention of storage, but it could include either 8GB or 16GB of internal memory.

Also, the Galaxy J3 (2017) sports a 5-inch display that supports HD (720p) resolution, and it's powered by a 2,600 mAh battery. It will probably include 4G LTE and VoLTE support among other connectivity features.

Along with the Galaxy J3 (2017), Samsung is expected to announce other Galaxy J series smartphones, but we're not sure if the South Korean company will go for a single launch event, or it will introduce the new phones separately.
