Sprint and Samsung have just announced they have teamed up to offer customers a new affordable Android smartphone, the Galaxy J3 (2016).

The new smartphone is now available for purchase at both Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile carriers for only $180 outright. This is a prepaid smartphone, so you won't have to commit to a long-term contract.

According to Sprint, customers will be able to get the smartphone at Boost Mobile and pair it with the carrier's $30 Unlimited with Auto-Re-Boost, $35 Unlimited and $45 Unlimited plans. Boost Mobile also has a $60 Unlimited plan that includes unlimited high-speed data.

On the other hand, Virgin Mobile Unlimited plans include Data-Free Music streaming via Pandora, iHeartRadio, Slacker Radio, 8tracks and Milk Music. Also, unlimited plans start at $35/month with Unlimited Data, Talk and Text, and 1GB of high-speed data.

Low-end spec, but Super AMOLED display and LTE support included

Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) is far from being impressive, but it's a decent mid-range smartphone, The smartphone sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, which should provide sharper text and clear picture quality.

There's also a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls.

Sprint states the Galaxy J3 (2016) is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, but it doesn't mention what chipset is packed inside. However, there's a high chance that the smartphone is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset.

Also, the affordable smartphone packs 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

Last but not least, Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) comes with 4G LTE (Enhanced LTE) support and a good enough 2,600 mAh battery that hasn't been rated by the carrier yet.
