Word about new Samsung smartphones in the Galaxy J series emerged a few weeks ago, but only recently we got more info on a particular Galaxy J2 handset that popped up in benchmarks.

Just like every other Galaxy J series smartphone, the J2 will be price in the low-tier range since it packs only entry-level features.

Even though we reported last week about the phone's main specs that were mentioned in GFXBench database, the folks over at SamMobile have been able to confirm with a reliable source the full specs sheet of the Galaxy J2.

First of all, Samsung Galaxy J2 will ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, but it's unclear to what extent the South Korean company will be able to implement the newest version of TouchWiz UI as well.

Good enough CPU and memory, but disappointing display

When it comes to hardware, Samsung Galaxy J2 is packed with a 1.2GHz quad-core Exynos 3475 processor, 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

These specs are more than enough to run just about any apps and games listed in Google Play Store, but it does not assures the best experience as well.

Furthermore, the Galaxy J2 sports a 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 800 x 480 pixels resolution. This is kind of disappointing, but not unexpected since it's a wallet friendly smartphone.

On the back, the smartphone features a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary modest 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

The device is said to measure 136 x 69 x 8.3mm and it will be powered by a 2,000 mAh battery. We also know the Galaxy J2 will pack microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB), but we're not sure it will offer dual-SIM support.

There's no word on when exactly Samsung will launch the Galaxy J2 and where it will be available, but India might be one of the first countries to get it.
