At the start of last month, we reported that Samsung was working on a new version of the Galaxy Grand Prime, as the smartphone had just appeared on Indian import-export agency Zauba's website. Now, it seems that the smartphone has just received Wi-Fi certification and its name has been revealed.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime+ has been granted Wi-Fi certification, as reported by SamMobile. The smartphone will carry the codename SM-G532F. The listing doesn't provide many details regarding the device's specs, but previous rumors mention that it will run a 1.4GHz quad-core processor and have 1.5GB of RAM.

It will also come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box and have a 5-inch display. There are no details on the smartphone's design or even the launch date, so there's no way of telling when the device will be announced and made available for purchase. It's also unclear on what markets the company will release the smartphone.

Galaxy Grand Prime+ could come with a dual-SIM variant

Samsung's Galaxy Grand Prime+ might actually be made available in two variants, one regular model and another that would support dual-SIM. Both of them received Wi-Fi certification. In addition, the smartphone was imported into India last month, which would mean that it only needs to receive FCC approval before it can be announced.

The device would be the successor to the Galaxy Grand Prime, which was released nearly two years ago, in 2014, and had a 5-inch display with 540 x 960 pixel resolution and ran a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. Considering that the Galaxy Grand Prime+ is said to come with 1.5GB of RAM, it won't be a huge bump from its predecessor.

The Galaxy Grand Prime came with 8GB of internal storage and a 2,600mAh removable battery. It was made available in multiple color variants. The Galaxy Grand Prime was released in October, which could be an indication on the month Samsung could launch its successor, but that's just speculation at this point.
